This year’s focus of the masterclass will be on the Feuchtwanger technique and exercises. We will work through all of the legendary 18 exercises and then incorporate them in your piano pieces during the lessons. We will also work on your posture and how to use your body in an optimal way while playing the piano.
Daniel is vice chairman of the International Peter Feuchtwanger Society and his work as a teacher spans over more than 20 years, specializing in the famous and unique Feuchtwanger technique, for acquiring a functional and natural approach to piano playing. An example of a famous Feuchtwanger pupil is Martha Argerich.

Der diesjährige Schwerpunkt des Meisterkurses liegt auf der Feuchtwanger-Technik und ihren Übungen. Wir werden alle 18 legendären Übungen durcharbeiten und sie anschließend in Ihre Klavierstücke im Unterricht integrieren. Außerdem werden wir an Ihrer Haltung arbeiten und Ihnen zeigen, wie Sie Ihren Körper beim Klavierspielen optimal einsetzen. Daniel ist stellvertretender Vorsitzender der Internationalen Peter-Feuchtwanger-Gesellschaft und unterrichtet seit über 20 Jahren. Er ist spezialisiert auf die berühmte und einzigartige Feuchtwanger-Technik, die einen funktionalen und natürlichen Zugang zum Klavierspiel vermittelt. Eine bekannte Schülerin Feuchtwangers ist Martha Argerich.

Shuttles
All shuttles from the accommodation to the teaching location and back in and around Gutenstein will be provided free of charge for you between 9 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., except Monday, Aug 17 (welcome dinner!) between 9 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. 

Arriving Gutenstein by train
From Vienna you have a train connetion to Gutenstein or Pernitz with a changing of the train in Wr. Neustadt. From the train station Gutenstein or Pernitz you will have a free shuttle from us to your accommodation. Shuttle from and to Vienna City or airport
We offer a shuttle service on Aug 17 in the morning at about 9 a.m.  from Vienna to Gutenstein (costs: € 50.- per person and one way, siblings or student with 1 parent € 75.-) and a shuttle back to Vienna/Vienna Airport on august 24 at about 10.30 or later. Please book your travel accordingly!

Restaurant and catering options

  • The place where we offer practicing rooms and where most of the lessons will take place is called “Meierhof”. There we have a big kitchen where students may cook and prepare their individual food (except on the day of the concert).

  • A few meters away there is a supermarket called “Nah und Frisch”. (Monday - Wednesday: 7:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. and 3 p.m. - 6 p.m., Thursday: 7:15 - 12:15 a.m, Friday: 7:15 - 12:15 a.m. and 3 p.m. - 6 p.m, Saturday: 7:15 - 12.00 a.m.)

  • Restaurants in Gutenstein:

Cancellation conditions
In the event of cancellation for whatever reason, the course fee will be refunded till Aug 10, later only if you can provide a substitute participant! Once you have completed the registration process, the registration fee (€ 120.-) will no longer be refunded!

  • First meeting: Monday Aug 17 at 10:45 a.m. at the Meierhof Gutenstein, Markt 2, 2770 Gutenstein (introducing of applicants, schedule of classes, house rules, transfers and shuttles)

  • Monday evening: Welcome dinner for all students of the class Marika Lichter (Musical) and Daniel Beskow (Piano) at 6 p.m. at the Meierhof!

  • Daniel Beskow will work daily approx. 50 minutes with every single singer. 

  • Sunday, Aug 23, 2026

    • General rehearsal at the Refektorium Servitenkloster Mariahilfberg, time will be announced by Mr. Beskow in cooperation with Prof. Lichter in time.

    • 4 p.m.: Concert of the piano class Daniel Beskow together with the musical class Prof. Marika Lichter at the Refektorium Servitenkloster!

About Daniel Beskow

Daniel Beskow is an internationally acclaimed concert pianist from Sweden.

After his solo debut recital in Copenhagen 2012, Daniel has established himself as one of Scandinavia’s most interesting and versatile pianists with around 100 concerts per year. He has been praised for possessing an extraordinary musical intelligence and his playing has been described as sensational.

The project “Fairytales” with Daniel’s great-grandmother Elsa Beskow’s pictures has become a great success in Scandinavia.

The recording ”Fairytales” was nominated for OPUS klassik awards 2023 in the chamber music category and received excellent reviews.

In 2019, Daniel released his first recording with Franz Schubert’s Winterreise which was nominated for the best newcomer of the year at the OPUS klassik awards 2020.

Beskow has profiled himself as an accomplished performer of Viennese and Scandinavian composers such as Mozart, Schubert and Grieg. Besides that, he is a passionate Lied pianist and chamber musician.

Daniel studied at Edsberg Castle, The Royal College of Music in Stockholm, Musikhochschule in Hannover, The Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen and MUK in Vienna. He considers his teachers Peter Feuchtwanger in London and Jiri Hlinka in Norway as his most important and lasting influences.

Daniel Beskow ist ein international gefeierter Konzertpianist aus Schweden.

Nach seinem Solo-Debüt 2012 in Kopenhagen etablierte er sich als einer der interessantesten und vielseitigsten Pianisten Skandinaviens mit rund 100 Konzerten pro Jahr. Er wird für seine außergewöhnliche musikalische Intelligenz gelobt und sein Spiel als sensationell beschrieben.

Das Projekt „Märchen“ mit Fotografien von Daniels Urgroßmutter Elsa Beskow wurde in Skandinavien ein großer Erfolg.

Die Aufnahme „Märchen“ wurde für den OPUS Klassik Award 2023 in der Kategorie Kammermusik nominiert und erhielt hervorragende Kritiken.
